Stabile PRO Heavy-Duty Pivoting iPad Stand

I’ve been a Thought Out customer for years, and the Stabile PRO is another example of why. This stand is rock-solid, beautifully made from steel, and designed to last for decades — not months like the cheap imports. The stability is unmatched, the pivot is smooth, and it looks as good on my desk as it performs. Thought Out proves that American-made still means something: quality, craftsmanship, and pride in the details. If you want to buy once and never have to replace it, this is the stand to get.

When I made the purchase I thought it was going to be nice and felt good supporting an American made company, but was I surprised, this thing is a tank! It is crazy heavy and solid, it is like a chunk of steel sitting on my counter holding my iPad in place. It is not going anywhere. If you are looking for a mount for your tablet look no more.

I bought one of these stands in 2018 for my then iPad Pro which my wife has adopted. The stand worked great then over 6 years it’s done everything that could be expected from a desk stand. I love the swivel head. When I purchased the new iPad Pro M4 I bought this stand again only in black and the finish texture has vastly improved. It’s one good looking and functional stand. Heavy enough to not be knocked over. It will work fine as it is, but I suggest purchasing the strap for the rare instance the iPad is knocked off the stand which did happen over the 6 years.

I bought the Stabile PRO iPad stand and am so glad I did. It matches my silver Mac hardware in color perfectly. This stand is stout! I set it on my desk and it has not budged since, even with constantly moving stacks of paper, notebooks, reaching around it and so forth, it doesn’t budge. It is almost like it is attached to my wooden desktop. My 10.9” iPad is in a leather case/stand that folds over the screen and it sits right on the Stabile PRO and is held in place by the rubber hooks. The upper part of the stand does not move at all when the iPad is on it. I have not had to make any adjustments, but there is a good range of motion if you do want to adjust it. Adjustments require a robust amount of pressure, but are not difficult and since the stand is so heavy, it does not move while making adjustments. The stand is as beautiful as it is functional and includes a little a fork on the upper part of a stand for a grappling hook. I do not use the hook in my home application. The bottomline is that this stand is both stable and well thought-out. And it is American made!

I purchased this stand to hold my iPad while I eat my morning breakfast. I don't like laying the iPad on the kitchen table, even with the smartcover as it isn't at the right angle and leaves it vulnerable to spills. I got the stand in black and it has a rough textured finish. Its heavy and inspires confidence that it won't move. This model has a ball bearing that let's you adjust the angle, which is useful for up and down, but I don't see the benefit of right to left as you could just turn the stand. Unlike the iPod holders that they sell, the stabile pro does not curl around and grip the iPad, it's more like an easel. As such, you can leave your smartcover on and just flip it back over the top. It will also likely be the last tablet stand you'll ever need, as it should work with just about any tablet. There are non slip feet on the bottom, as well as rubberized areas where your iPad makes contact as to not scratch it. You can set the iPad in either portrait or landscape. What's not to like? Not much. I wish it came in gloss black like the iPod holders, but textured black looks nice too. When putting the iPad in landscape mode, the bottom right "foot" can hit the volume rocker on the iPad 2, so i generally put the rocker on the top, but that means i take off the smart cover since the magnetic side is down. Perhaps on next version leaving a space or making it more of a claw foot that goes around the volume rocker? Some will say it's a tad pricey, but tablets arent going away any time soon, and you'll likely have this thing forever. Short of running it over with your car, it's near indestructible. I purchased it having owned other thoughtout products, knowing I was paying a slight premium for a superbly built product. I doubt there is a better looking, better built, or better functioning stand out there anywhere...
